Thorbjørnrud Hotell

Breakfast was great, and we slept well in comfortable beds. The room decor felt a little dated, though, and there was barely any space between the bed and the wall. We liked the location, but rain kept coming and going, so we didn't get to explore the grounds properly. Dinner was okay. We also hoped for a view from the restaurant, but the blinds were stuck.

We've been here twice and enjoyed both visits. The setting is lovely, and the staff are really friendly. Make sure to have breakfast here, it's worth it.

The room was comfortable, and I liked being able to sit in the corridor areas and shared spaces outside it. I had a beautiful view, and this is a trip I'll always remember. The hotel, restaurant, and brewery sit on lovely grounds, with beautiful buildings and very helpful, friendly staff. Since there aren't many places to eat nearby, booking one of the varied multi-course dinners each evening makes sense. I enjoyed the food, wine, and beer.

The hotel was a comfortable, enjoyable base for our two nights, chosen mainly for its location by the sea and near Kistefos Museum. The food stood out, especially the breakfast buffet's blue cheese, fresh vegetables, and breads. Ingredients are locally sourced or grown there. Gardens, sculptures, and art are spread around the property, and the architecture is unusual, with long corridors joining everything and a different design for each exit. I did wonder if the piano might work better in the auditorium lounge. Thanks for the hospitality during our stay. I'd definitely recommend it.
