The spot is fantastic for nearby hikes and sights, and it feels like this campsite could be amazing with some upkeep. We only stayed one night while passing through, in a little cabin with the beds, microwave, kettle and other basics we needed. Everything worked, though the place as a whole felt worn out. Curtains were coming off the rail, a pull cord was missing from a bedside light, and the wall fan didn't work. Small things, but they added to that neglected feeling. We were glad to have laundry after a week on the road, but the dryer barely did anything. After nearly two and a half hours with four T-shirts, trousers, shorts and underwear, we gave up and hung everything around the cabin. It was still damp when we left in the morning. The toilets and showers were also shabby, even though they were basically clean, and my husband couldn't get any hot water in the shower. These are inconveniences, but paid services should work. It's Basecamp Birtavarre, not basecamp Everest, after all.

For a quick tent stop and a shower, the price was under 200 nok, which earned a star. Soap, toilet paper and warm water were there too, so that was another star. Still a pretty trashy experience.

A supermarket and petrol station are just around the corner, and the accommodation is fairly priced. There are also plenty of hikes nearby, plus a grand canyon, waterfalls, a river and amazing skies. It was clean and quiet, and we met some interesting people. Great for a family with a dog. At low tide you can walk a long way out into the fjord to look for rare birds, and fishing is good. Lovely place, and especially worth staying a few days in autumn.

For a biker, the cabin gave enough warmth and shelter, and it had an electric cooker, a small fridge and a microwave. The toilets and showers were in another building nearby. The cabin was good enough, and definitely worth the money.

Great views, and there's a really nice store within walking distance. The reception isn't staffed, but I called ahead and the owner waited until 21 so I could get settled properly. A perfect place to rest while cycling the arctic!
