Good place to stop for a day while traveling onward, with all the caravan facilities there. The family pizza for 16 NOK was nice. Still, I wouldn’t want to stay longer: it’s right by the busy E6, the facilities are dated, and while they’re being renovated only half are available. The other half is kind of dirty, and the playground has lots of broken things. It feels like a chain with no caring owner. Use it as a rest stop for a night and carry on.

The playground was nice, and the sanitary facilities were under construction but reasonably clean. The tent pitches, though, were dirty, with cigarette butts and rubbish on the ground. The surface was very uneven, which made it hard to get the tent pegs in. There were no benches or indoor seats in the kitchen area, and noise carried from the two streets and pedestrian path around the campsite. This was the most expensive campsite on our way south, and it felt overpriced. We can’t recommend it for tent camping.

The E6 is right beside the site, so there’s disruptive noise. Nothing can be done about that, but it’s good to know in advance. We also had some trouble with parking and the electricity not working, though my neighbor campers and I sorted that out together. The bigger issue was how dirty everything was. The toilets and showers are old, which matters less to me, but they hadn’t been cleaned for days. There was no paper, the same dirt stayed in the showers, and the curtains had pink mold.

I paid 35 euros for a patch of grass with no electricity, right in a public area where people kept walking and cycling past. It felt like pitching a tent in a grim public park, next to a busy highway. This is basically a car park with some grass at the back, and parking or camping somewhere random would be better. Norwegians may have lower standards for campsites, but come on. A couple of swings hardly make it a family holiday park. I had to beg the pizza place staff for the wifi password while they were busy closing. They couldn’t speak English, and reception shuts incredibly early because everything is “self service.” I was promised a “warm welcome” but got no information by email. With Norway’s right to roam, what does this place add besides more asphalt for cars? I don’t even have a car.

There was a fair amount of noise from the main road, even though we parked as far back as possible. Most of the facilities were clean, but a pile of dirty dishes had been left in the kitchen. That was down to some useless guests, not the site. It was fine overall.
