Quality Hotel Sarpsborg

The breakfast was 10/10, and the rooms were spacious. The receptionists were welcoming, too. We stayed two nights over New Year, with dinner included, but none of the staff could tell us what the dinner included or give us details, which was stressful. We booked a package that included swimming, and the kids and I loved it. Staff gave us the wrong pool opening and closing times, though, so we stressed for nothing. Parking has to be paid for the whole stay, so keep that in mind. We didn’t do much outside the hotel.

Breakfast was good and the staff were nice during my five-day stay. They didn’t mention that parking outside had to be paid for. There may have been information somewhere in Norwegian, but visitors from abroad who don’t know how it works should be told directly. Parking isn’t free, so watch out for fines.

The breakfast was excellent, and the staff paid attention to guests. There was also a good gluten-free and lactose-free section. The location works well for travelling north or south, with several car charging options nearby, and there were several good entertainment options for kids. We were two adults and two children staying one night on our way to a skiing holiday up north. Saturday 7th of February was very busy, with parties and lots of hotel guests. Check-in took too long, and our original room wasn’t ready because it hadn’t been cleaned. Staff moved us to a small room near a party room. We didn’t hear noise ourselves, but understand other guests were bothered by the party that went on until 01.30 AM. The room had what was promised, but the ventilation was noisy and the drinking glasses smelled of coffee. Not sure we’d stay again unless we wanted a good breakfast. Remember to register and pay for parking!

The extra bed in our room for five was the worst bed I’ve ever slept on, absolutely lousy. We had a double bed and a pull-out couch, then had to make the extra bed ourselves. Dinner in the bar was another letdown. The menu showed about five pizzas, but the QR code only offered ones costing around double. I ordered and registered our table, then the pizzas came in boxes with no cutlery. They were among the lowest-quality pizzas you can imagine, yet two pizzas, a kids menu, and a couple of sodas came to almost 900 NOK. A zero-star experience. I’d recommend staying here, but avoid dinner there at all costs. It’s fantastic with kids: plenty of space, clean rooms, nice staff, a great play area, a huge water park, and a well-stocked breakfast with what you’d expect and much more.
