Eco Camp Norway - Hostel

The owners and staff were really nice, and the place was clean and pleasant.

Be sure to reserve ahead, since this hostel is often full. I was warmly welcomed, and the owner’s energy and creativity really come through, especially in the way she cares about recycling. A fantastic place.

It’s a converted school, which gives the place a distinctive feel, and the themed rooms are large and all have their own character. The cleanliness and hygiene were good too. What made the stay especially pleasant was the way people were brought together. The hostess remembers guests by name, and the hosts are happy to sit and chat. Everyone gets included, so guests get to know one another and conversation comes easily. A warm welcome all around, full marks from me. If you have celiac disease, mention it when booking or when you arrive. They’ll shop for gluten-free food. This is a stay for anyone looking for something quite different from an ordinary accommodation.

Camping should be more like this. Eco Camp was full of surprises, and it felt really unique and great. The outdoor areas are nice whether you’re with kids or without. Inside, there’s a big kitchen with all the equipment, good beds, and clean showers and toilets. The staff were helpful and committed. I loved the stylish furniture made from things collected along the shore. Even the bunk beds were built in the workshop from pallets supplied by local businesses. We had a fantastic stay.
