Hofslund Fjord Hotel

We used one of the rowboats to go around the harbor, and it was an easy stroll into town for groceries and restaurants. The place also made a wonderful base for glacier hiking, stave churches, and fjord cruising. We stayed three nights and two days in an apartment and loved it. It was comfortable, with a great view of the fjord, plus a fridge/freezer, stovetop, small oven/air fryer, and supplies for simple meals. Breakfast was included in the main dining room, and the spread was amazing. We didn't try the pool because it felt a little too cool for us. Car chargers are slow, and on-site parking is available at no extra cost.

This is a nice hotel if you know what to expect going in. It's historic and original, with a unique location right on the fjord, beautiful views, a heated pool, rowboats, and other fun amenities. It's also convenient for the grocery store next door and a nice brewpub a few blocks away on the water. Breakfast was fine, nothing special, but there was plenty to fill us up before heading out. The bar had a nice selection for an evening drink with a view of the water. The rooms reflect the hotel's period, which I thought was cool. There is no AC, so plan to leave the door or windows open for a while before bed. Our main issue was noise: the room faced the roundabout, and the windows didn't block it out. You might ask the front desk about room location, have a drink or two before bed, and bring earplugs or use a white noise app.

The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the views were lovely. It's a great location for exploring the area, and we really enjoyed walking along the fjord just outside the hotel.

The staff were great, and breakfast was basic but fine. But the rooms are tiny, the drains weren't clean, and the place badly needs refurbishment. The walls are so thin that kids crying woke us several times during the night. The interior decor was odd, too.
