Quality Hotel Grand Steinkjer

The food was repetitive, though tasty, and the rooms were clean, if they still feel like they’re from the 1980s. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The biggest problem was the road service workers having meals in dirty work clothes. The grease smell made eating unpleasant, and the hotel staff didn’t respond, even with other guests in the restaurant.

The location is good, with easy access to the train station if you want to get away quickly. But if you do have to stay, insist on one of the few rooms with a renovated bathroom, and avoid room 330 at all cost. Asking the front desk simple questions made me feel like a nuisance. The staff came across as robotic at best and downright rude by default. Having both “Quality” and “Grand” in the hotel’s name is laughable.

Staff were good, and the hotel offers an evening buffet. Breakfast was pretty good too. Parking was scarce, so I had to find a roadside spot and move before charging starts the next day. You get an hour, from 08:00 to 09:00. It’s a reasonable place to stop on a trip north or south. I’d give it 4.5 stars overall.

The station is a two-minute walk away, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are large, and the food was excellent, especially breakfast.
