Marina Hotel Lofoten

For what it costs, I’d call this more of a cheap motel than a three-star hotel. The room was very noisy, and though we paid for a double bed, we got a poorly made twin setup that kept coming apart at night. The curtains were too short to block the windows, so the lights stayed on all day and night. We’d paid for a mountain view and ended up looking at a gas station. Cigarette smoke from people outside also filled the room nonstop from 5am, which was very pleasant. The place was filthy, and it was obvious the room hadn’t been properly cleaned when we arrived.

I enjoyed the included breakfast, especially the gluten-free biscuits. There was a good selection of food, and it felt like a healthy way to start the day. We stayed two days hoping to see the aurora, but rain meant we didn’t see any in Lofoten. The hotel is in the town area, across from the fuel station and beside the kid's School. Everything around looked beautiful, and I think I’d come back and visit again in the future.

The self check-in was warm and efficient, and there was plenty of parking on site. Our room was small, but tidy, modern, and had everything we needed for a comfortable night while travelling through the region. The location was excellent. I’d happily stay again.

We arrived late in Svolvær and slept in Room 205 for one night before picking up our car the next day. The check-in code came by email on the day, and it opened both the entrance and room door. Breakfast was laid out for guests to help themselves, and checkout was just a matter of hanging a "checked out" tag on the door handle. No unnecessary talking or socialising, which I LIKE🤩!!!! There’s a common kitchen too. The toilet seat is inside the shower cubicle, so everything gets wet, but since we were there for under 12 hours and mostly sleeping, it wasn’t much of an issue. We pack fairly light, so having no lift was fine, though apparently there is one.
