I booked a waterside Rorbuer for mid-August five months ahead and paid in full, with no cancellation option. The day before arrival, I got the usual check-in details, then a message ten minutes later saying plumbing trouble had made the cabin unavailable. They offered a village house or a full refund. With so little notice, I had to take the house. But when I visited Å, the Rorbuer was occupied by other tourists, and nobody answered when I asked why. I paid a lot for a traditional Lofoten cabin by the water and ended up in a house in the village. Hope this doesn't happen to you.

The scenery around it was amazing, and the place did what we needed. It was clean, with a good kitchen and decent WiFi. Still, it felt a bit pricey for what you get, and staying in a fisher hut for the nostalgia didn't really make up for that.

At the far end of Lofoten, this little fisherman's cabin was super cosy. The staff were nice, and there are spectacular hikes close by.

Å is such a quiet, beautiful place, and the view from our cottage was exceptional. We were in a hurry to get back to Bodø, and although everything was booked, the owner kindly found space for five of us in a lovely cottage meant for eight. The weather was rough, but he still let us stay. Inside, the cottage was really big and spacious. We hope to return another time, and I'd definitely recommend it.

We spent two nights in the hut. On the first night the wind was so strong the cabin seemed to lift off its supports a couple of times. Opening the door took all my strength, and I nearly got blown onto the balcony. The lining between the inside and outside walls flapped loudly, but I got used to the noise and fell asleep. The next night the weather eased, and at about 1:20 I saw the Northern light through the bedroom window. The mountain blocks most of it, though, so Reine would be a better bet for viewing. The cabin was as pictured, with a heated bathroom floor, a good shower, and a comfortable bed. Check-in, communication, and directions were all good. It was a pleasant stay. As the listing says, there's no TV, radio, or microwave.
