Comfort Hotel Xpress Tromso

We heard no noise from other rooms during our four nights, even though some reviews say otherwise, and we slept well. Our twin room had two very comfortable beds, which mattered since I have a hip issue and have slept in uncomfortable beds before. The room itself was pretty basic, but it had a great view from the fifth floor. There’s a desk with a light, a TV with several channels, and a lovely ensuite shower with hot water and good pressure. Shower gel and hand wash were provided, along with a bathroom hairdryer. It was a clean hotel in a great central location, and the staff were very friendly. The Barception sells soft and alcoholic drinks as well as snacks. We left our luggage in the storage room, and it was perfectly safe. The airport bus stops around the corner. We’d definitely recommend it.

The room was cozy, and everything else was perfect, though the lights and TV had limited use. The hotel is right in central Tromsø, just a two-minute walk from the bus stop for airport trips. It was clean, with a comfortable lobby. I really liked the service too, with staff around day and night to help and sell food and hot drinks.

The small size of the hotel was a problem throughout our stay. The Compact Hotel Room had no space for our luggage or anywhere for us to sit except the bed. The lobby was also tiny and crowded most of the time, so we felt we had nowhere to relax. There was no small bar fridge in the room for drinks or snacks, which I would have considered necessary given how few food and drink facilities the hotel had. Check-in started things off badly. We were tired from travelling and asked for help storing our bags before check-in because the luggage room was already full. The staff member on duty said, “first in best dressed,” and offered no other solution. He then carried on talking to another staff member as if we weren’t there, leaving us to move other guests’ suitcases around to make room for ours. Staff were generally unhelpful, and facilities were very limited. Despite the central location, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. We were quite happy to check out because we hadn’t enjoyed our stay.

The room was compact, warm, clean, and very quiet, with a good shower. We stayed twice for one night each time, and it worked well as a short-term base. It’s near the main shopping street, the waterfront, and airport bus stops. You can leave your luggage after check-out. For a budget hotel, it had the amenities we needed for the price: coffee at reception, Wi-Fi, and TV. Winter nights are long.
