The hotel is in a beautiful spot, and the sky bar gives you cinematic views across the island. Even the washrooms have impressive views. It's a great place to meet friends for coffee, but I didn't find it good for sleeping. I hope they sort out the bedroom issues so future guests have a better stay.

The rooftop offers an amazing view, and the rooftop bar is beautiful. It's also where you check in, and there are lots of games to play. We got lucky and saw the northern lights outside. The city center is only a few minutes away by car or bus, and there's a mall, grocery shops, and restaurants nearby. The price is good compared with other city-center hotels. Breakfast is okay but has limited options, so I'd suggest eating in the city center where there are more choices. The main drawback is the tiny rooms, with no cabinets or safe for valuables. The toilets are small too, though they're okay.

I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels around Norway, and Moxy Tromso is the best managed one I’ve come across. The staff were warm, friendly, and quick to help, and made our Arctic trip feel special. The room was roomy and homey, and breakfast had everything we needed before heading out for the day. Being a little outside the center meant things felt peaceful, with that mountain view right there. The bus ride into town was short and easy. From the restaurant we could watch rainbows, fresh snow, and weather rolling in over the landscape, plus planes taking off toward Svalbard and beyond. The view was hard to get enough of. We even saw green and red northern lights from the bar balcony. Magical.

I was sick with a cold for all three nights, but still had a very good stay. Cilia and the rest of the front desk staff were helpful, including with suggestions for things that might help. There’s a grocery store a minute away on foot and a pharmacy about five minutes away. The rooftop viewing area has an outdoor section, and I saw the Northern Lights outside the hotel at 5p on Jan 23, before my flight. The room windows were iced over, so the view you pay for may not show up. I opened mine a crack to take the photo. Breakfast was decent, though I think I liked the one at Moxy Bergen more. I’d recommend the hotel.

The price is high, but they make good use of what they have, and the team is friendly and helpful. The views are the big draw. If the Northern Lights show up, the outdoor terrace on the 11th floor is as good a spot as any to watch from. There’s no fridge in the room, which was a real drawback. I also had trouble getting the aircon cold enough in winter, though the windows open a little and let the Arctic air finish the job. Dinner choices are limited to what the bar staff can make using the countertop oven or air fryer.
