The buffet breakfast had plenty to choose from, including hot dishes, breads, cheese, cold cuts, fruit, salad, drinks and cereal. We found something to eat for our dietary needs. Getting around was easy too: the airport express stops outside, the attractions are walkable, and many tours meet right there or just a few minutes away. Our room was clean, though on the small side, and the bathroom seemed brand new and spotless. It came with a fridge, safe, hairdryer, iron and board, kettle, tea and coffee, TV, fan, shower gel, conditioner and hand wash. There was only a small table rather than a proper desk, which was frustrating at this price. We had a nice harbour-facing view of the arctic cathedral, cable car and mountains. It could have been a good spot to watch the auroras, but we didn't see any. I wasn't comfortable with the very soft bed. If you need a firm mattress, as I do for my bad back, you may want to consider another hotel. I would still recommend it, as long as you keep the bed in mind.

We came for three nights at the end of November to chase the northern lights. The location made everything easy, with bus stops, convenience stores and tour meeting points right nearby. Breakfast was better than we'd expected, and we were very happy with our stay.

I spent hours in the room just watching the sky change colors. The view was perfect. Breakfast was amazing, and the room was comfortable. The hotel is by the port, close to the airport express stop and the tourist spots, while the main market area is straightforward to reach. There were tourists visiting from all over the world when I was there, so it seemed like a popular place. I'd give it 10/10!

The breakfast was okay, just standard fare, but the room was a poor deal for the money. The carpet felt dusty, and the couch and cushions looked dirty, with brown stains. There wasn't even a tissue box. It was stuffy and extremely hot despite it being winter, the window being open and the curtains being drawn. Then the ship floodlights shone straight into the room at all hours. Light sleepers, be warned. You end up choosing between the heat and the light. The bed bounced too much, and the pillows were so flat and soft I had to fold them over several times to get any height. See photo.

We paid about $500USD a night, and I've stayed in motel-ins that were nicer. The beds were awful, and we slept badly for all five days. They mistakenly put two twin beds together instead of giving us one full bed, and the front desk was too busy for us to complain. The room was very small, as was the bathroom, and the plumbing was loud enough that we heard toilets flushing all night. We paid extra for a water view, but our room was only adjacent to the view and it wasn't worth it. We couldn't see the NYE fireworks at all. Don't expect to see the northern lights from the hotel either, you won't. Breakfast shut down completely the second it was past closing time. The place was packed for NYE, and we felt like cattle. It didn't seem like they made an extra effort for guests. We ended up at the Edge hotel for a night cap, and it looked much better. I'd highly recommend staying there instead.
