Trysil - Knut hotell

The suite upgrade was a lovely offer, and having a kitchen meant we could cook. I appreciated that. I’m puzzled that suites seem to get different cleaning service, though. The kitchen rubbish wasn’t emptied, and there was a note asking us to take it out ourselves before leaving, which made it feel more like an apartment than a hotel suite. Breakfast costs extra, and you can put together a lunch package, which is handy. Still, at more than 5000NOK per night for four people, plus paying for four lunches one day, I didn’t like being approached by kitchen staff and told I’d packed too much food. The suspicious way they spoke to me felt unpleasant.

Parking was useful, and having a supermarket next door made the location convenient. It’s also just a short walk into town. The rooms were nice, the hotel quite clean, and breakfast was good each morning. The staff were very accommodating.

I’ve stayed here many times. My first visit was brilliant, a simple but nice place to stay. Over the years, the quality has slipped. The crew are unpleasant, it’s much more expensive, and most of all the breakfast has gone from a hearty Norwegian mountain meal that kept you going all day to a pale version of what it used to be. I won’t return.

For a 3-star hotel, it’s quite good. The room was okay and breakfast was good. There just weren’t many power outlets in the room.
