We should’ve booked more than one night. The area is wonderful to explore, with trails around the cabin, sea views and plenty of birds. Our sea-facing cabin was spotless, roomy for two, and thoughtfully designed and practical. The hosts were lovely and quick to respond. We’d happily stay longer next time.
We stayed in a new bird-view apartment, with a lovely view straight out to the sea and bird mountain. It was comfortable, and one night went by too fast. I visited Ekkerøy Feriehus on a study trip for Up Norway and host Ingjerd gave us a warm welcome, sharing her deep knowledge of the island’s witchcraft history and birdlife. A good choice for birders and anyone who loves nature.
We spent three nights here over Easter and would love to come back. We wanted quiet, space away from people and noise, and a chance to stop worrying about COVID and enjoy nature right outside. Ekkerøy Feriehus gave us all of that. We didn’t meet Ingjerd in person, but her books on local history and our short phone chats gave us a sense of her character. She sounds like someone who’d be great company over a good meal. My husband and I had a lovely stay.
Right at the end of the world, and such a cozy, comfortable place. The hosts were welcoming and very friendly. A real hidden gem.
