Hotel Ghyampe Danda

The Newari dishes were the highlight for me, delicious and nicely presented. I visited the restaurant at Hotel Ghyampe Danda, where the dining area was clean and cozy, with a calm atmosphere that made for a relaxing meal away from city noise. We were there for a field research trip, and the quiet, scenic surroundings made Hotel Ghyampe Danda a wonderfully peaceful place to stay. It felt like an instant chance to unwind, with nature all around. From the hill, we could see a broad, breathtaking view of the Bhaktapur and Kathmandu valleys. It's about 15 km from Koteshwor, roughly a 30-minute ride on a fully blacktopped road. You pass Pilot Baba Dham on the way, a scenic and spiritual stop. The location also works well for people heading toward Kavre or the eastern region, or anyone wanting a break from Kathmandu's crowds and noise. The staff were especially friendly and cooperative, and their hospitality made us feel welcome. The food was fresh, hygienic, and delicious. We're already looking forward to returning, whether for another peaceful stay, a nature-filled stop on the way east, or a quick city getaway.

The rooms were fine, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. The staff weren't welcoming or trained, and the management was very poor. At breakfast, one staff member who looked like some kind of HOD asked my mother, "How many of your people are still coming?" The trays were almost all empty and weren't refilled. It felt like an investor had built the building and left everything else very cheaply done.

Ghyampe Danda Resort is a lovely place to get away from the city. The peaceful surroundings and beautiful views make it easy to relax, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was good, and the facilities were impressive. The cost seemed a bit high for what you get, especially for the food and accommodation. A small price reduction would make it more accessible. Still, if you don't mind paying a little more, it's a nice option for a relaxing visit.
