Namaste Bhaktapur Guest House

The family were very friendly and even offered us a ride to our next destination. Their restaurant on Taumadhi place serves far more food than you need for a ridiculously low price once you mention you’re staying here. It’s a cozy, well-located place in Bhaktapur, though hot water was sometimes hard to get. I’d warmly recommend it for its welcoming, personal feel, even if it isn’t perfect.

It’s right in the centre, but still quiet. The people were kind and helpful, gave us some good tips about the area, and we had a really cozy, tasty dinner with them one evening. I’d definitely recommend it.

The location is handy, with Durbar sq. and Pottery sq. both about a 4-minute walk away, and it’s good value for money. We stayed at Namaste for two nights and had a lovely time. The family, a woman and her two children, were so helpful, even arranging a taxi at a good price for checkout and lending us their own scooter after calling around to help us find one. We also had a lovely Nepalese cooking lesson with the chef from the related restaurant. The bed and mattress were good, and the shower was adequate. The only thing to watch is that the carved wooden upper windows open, so be mindful of the light at night. I don’t agree with the previous review about paying the entrance fee again each time. At the entry gate, you can ask them to write your passport number on the back of your entrance paper, along with how many days you’re staying, for up to 7 days.
