The location is great, right by the lake, with a shop and ATM just a few steps away. Staff are friendly and welcoming, and the ladies who clean keep the place spotless every day, whatever some reviews say. Trekkers can come back smelling after ten days in the hills and forget basic hygiene, but that's not the hostel being unclean. It's a solid place to leave your gear while you head into the mountains. I felt safe, had hot water whenever I needed it, and even the pillow was a proper pillow, not a pancake. I'd stay again.

The atmosphere was lovely, but rats were a problem. They chewed through my brush and soap. The area with the best views of the snow-capped mountains had been covered over.

The terrace has a lovely view over the lake. Staff were great, and the rooms were in good shape with all the amenities I needed.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The rooftop was nice and sociable in the evening, and the lake is only a 30-second walk away. But the dorms have no fan, so the heat and humidity made it really hard to sleep. My sockets had no power, which meant no fan, charging, or light. I mentioned it several times, but it still wasn't fixed. The wash and toilet facilities are tiny, and most of the toilets and showers had problems.
