We finally reached the lodge after the manager talked us through sandy fields, but getting there meant climbing stone walls. The place was dark and cold, and the bathroom was dirty. We’d booked a double room with an en-suite shower while returning to Namche Bazar, yet couldn’t find any route to the hotel at first. Locals sent us through the woods, where we got lost. Hot water was only available for one hour a day, and the price was shocking for the poor-looking place and service. It felt like a fraud, or a bad movie. Don’t go there.

It was getting dark as we headed back to Namche, so we called and asked for a room for two. They said one was available. There didn’t seem to be a proper path to the lodge, and after walking through the woods in the dark we found it closed. Locals called the number and seemed to have a key, but then we were quoted $250 for the night. That felt far too high for a closed lodge with nobody there in the woods. We gave the locals 1,000 rupees to guide us back to the path, then continued to the lodges by the river.

We only managed to reach the hotel with help from some locals, and when we got there in the dark, it appeared closed with nobody around. We’d called ahead and been told a room was available. Do not go there!

I stayed here twice, once on the way up and again on the return, and both visits were great. The service was absolutely amazing, and the food was great too.

We enjoyed staying here. The food was good and the rates were reasonable. It felt like a star hotel.
