The Point Villas

Although it’s quite a drive from Taupo, past acacia bay, the beautiful lake setting makes up for the distance. We loved the living space overlooking the pool and lake, and the kitchen was fully equipped for proper cooking. Our host stocked plenty of supplies, including milk, butter, bread, cereals, eggs, bacon, and lots of fruit. The two spacious bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house, each with a nicely appointed bathroom. There’s also a great pool and hot tub, plus lovely walks through the private estate to pleasant bays along the lake. The accommodation is lovely and the location is great. It’s on the pricey side, but worth it if you want to relax.

The kitchen made cooking for ourselves easy, with everything a foodie could want, and even a bowl of fresh fruit and frozen bread ready to bake. There were kayaks and tennis courts too, along with all the smaller things someone had clearly thought through. The building is designed to take in the temperate rainforest and Lake Taupo views, and it lacked nothing. We’ve stayed in beautiful places on both NZ islands, but this was our favorite by far. The host was welcoming and gracious. We’ll be back.

We were seven people there over Christmas, and PEG even did a grocery shop before we arrived late so we’d have breakfast food and a meal to cook for the holiday. Her kindness made a huge difference to our trip. The Point Villas at Taupo were fabulous, and the accommodation worked so well for our group. Five stars doesn’t seem like enough!

A proper escape from a busy life, with quiet, privacy, birdsong, flowers, forests and a beautiful view of Lake Taupo. Everything was perfect, and peg was so friendly and made sure we had what we needed. Thanks so much, peg. We’ll be back.
