Having our family and friends stay on site for the long weekend meant they could spend time together before the wedding. Everyone complimented the tidy, well-resourced, lovely rooms. The Maison Cottage was ideal for getting ready, and the beautiful grounds gave us a gorgeous backdrop for photos, with more pictures taken up the road at the Akaroa Heritage Park. The venue had everything we needed, from the luscious ceremony lawn and function room to the chairs, tables and great sound system. The BBQ's and full kitchen made a big family dinner the night before easy too. On the wedding day, David and Amanda helped set up the ceremony lawn and umbrellas for cocktail hour, taking the stress out of it. Amanda also checked in several times as the day approached, prompting us to think of things we hadn't ticked off yet, and they were quick to answer my last-minute questions. Afterward they gave us a bottle of Mt Vernon Sauvignon Blanc, a card and delicious fudge locally sourced from Akaroa. I first fell for the venue's calm feel and natural beauty when we toured it. David and Amanda were beyond helpful from the first email through to the big day. Choosing Mt Vernon Lodge was one of our best decisions. The whole process was easy, the day was magical, and we'd highly recommend the beautiful space and wonderful owners. 10/10!

The cabin rooms are simple but have what you need, with a large shared kitchen and stunning views. The other cabins are generally fully self-contained. We held our wedding at Mt Vernon in Dec 2022 and couldn't have asked for better. The hosts were super helpful and kind, while still staying out of the way on the day. Everything went smoothly and we had the best day ever. We kept the venue over NYE to celebrate with friends and keep the party going, and couldn't have asked for more.

The views and food were good, though I've seen and eaten better. We were there for a wedding, and the road was horrible, if you can even call it a road. It's too narrow and steep, and there are no fences or reflective signs warning of the 1000 metre drop. I'd never tackle it in the dark after a wedding. Be ready to walk or stay home. I'm surprised Health and Safety haven't had complaints. Don't be the first to come off the road!

The grounds and gardens were immaculate, and the laid-back, friendly hosts made the service fabulous. Every detail was taken care of, with absolutely everything you could think of on hand. My mum and I had the place to ourselves for a joint late-winter birthday weekend. We were welcomed with a complementary bottle of excellent chilled wine and delicious chocolates. Native trees, wonderful views, birdsong, and a roaring fire made it feel like absolute heaven. Such a relaxing, restorative stay. I'm thinking of having my 50th here. Thank you so much!
