Gracebrook Retreat

I bought 'manuka honey' here for 65 dollars. What a scam. I opened the bottles and found them full of SUGAR CRYSTALS. Worst quality ever. Outrageous. Never again 👎

The hostess was very kind, and the bed had already been warmed with a cozy electric blanket. Those were the highlights, though. The room smelled stuffy, the door was difficult to lock, the lighting outside by the bathroom was poor, and the shower room door had no lock. There were also several smaller but annoying issues. For the price, it wasn't up to muster. We wanted to like the place more than we did.

The honey is beautiful. When we arrived, no one was in the shop, so we rang the bell and honked the horn, then left the money with a note and headed off. Be sure to follow the signs all the way. It isn't the first farm off the main road, so keep going 🙂

The setting was peaceful and quiet, and I would've liked to stay another night. The room was lovely, nicely set out, warm and toasty, with the electric blankets switched on for us. Coffee was supplied, the shower was great and hot, and there was no checkout time given 😀. The host was friendly and laid back. It was a bit hard to find, so bigger, better roadside signs would help.
