On The Track Lodge

We appreciated the small practical touches, like torches for trips to the toilet at night and insect repellent on the outdoor tables. The drying room was handy, and it was easy to make hot drinks in the kitchen whenever we wanted. Fruit was available too. There are pleasant little walks nearby, as well as the beach. The setting is gorgeous, with lovely accommodation choices and indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxing, including a library, games, outdoor chairs and a hot tub. Meals were nutritious and excellent, with tasty snacks to go with the lunch sandwiches and plenty of breakfast choices, including lots of eggs. We'd recommend it as a relaxing getaway and a great base for the Nydia track. This is feedback from our latest Sidetracks Women Hiking Group.

We’ve done this trip many times with visiting family. It’s a lovely way to explore and appreciate Nelson / Marlborough. We park at Duncan Bay, about 1.45hr from Nelson, and walk in, which takes us 4.15min. On the way out, we either walk back to the car or take the boat with Brownie. That’s 1.15 and a beautiful cruise through the sounds. Spud and the facilities were an incredible surprise. Loved the beautiful food, amazing host, warm showers, drying room and cotton sheets.

It's a peaceful spot with fantastic walks right nearby. The rooms and communal spaces are great, and the amenities include quality showers and a hot tub. We really appreciated the care taken with coeliac-friendly food, including awareness of and good management of separate food preparation spaces. Highly recommended.

Loved the accommodation and the stunning setting. It takes some effort to get there, but it's worth it. Classic kiwi hospitality, and Spud is a great host. We'll be back for sure.
