Our host Linda was lovely, welcoming, and helpful, and the internet was fast and reliable. We stayed in the Rose room, with two large beds and, I think, the most comfortable mattresses we had in New Zealand. It was nicely decorated, with high ceilings, original coving, and French doors. There was plenty of storage, plus a fridge and coffee-making facilities. The hotel is a charming boutique place in an old colonial building, full of original features. It’s in a lovely part of Newmarket, quite close to Cornwall park. The bedrooms and public areas are spacious. I also appreciated the regular check-in and check-out times, 2pm and 11am, which are hard to find these days. We enjoyed our stay and would come back.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we’ve already booked another one. Aachen House was a wonderful find, with a beautiful boutique hotel and perfect hosts. From my first contact with Michael to our last chat, the whole experience was first class. I won’t repeat all the things others have said, but there’s no need to, it was a real pleasure to stay here.

There were four of us in a room with two double beds, and everything was super clean. My friends and I needed a last-minute booking after our previous room was cancelled. We found a beautiful place with such a warm, welcoming feel. No complaints at all, we’ll be back 😌

The owners are so friendly. They told us about the history of Aachen House and the restoration work they did. The rooms are huge, with comfortable beds and thick, luxurious white linens. There were lots of thoughtful little touches, including bottled water on arrival, fast internet, a top-shelf toiletry kit, and a large, spotless shower. We stayed here for a night and a day in Auckland during a motorcycle tour and had a wonderful time. The owners have lovingly restored the house, keeping its original decor and atmosphere while adding a high level of amenities. I highly recommend staying at Aachen House on your next visit to Auckland.
