A spacious Double Take room with all the extras I needed, and good value for the price. I stayed a few weeks ago and have just booked another five days for next year. I can see this becoming my regular hotel from now on. I’d rate it 99/100, except the microwaves need updating 😜

We had a comfortable stay, with clean, roomy rooms and just enough parking during our two nights there. The location is handy, right beside Highway 1. Breakfast comes in two levels, continental or cooked, so check what your plan covers because cooked items may cost extra.

Some of the staff were extremely friendly, but I was really annoyed about the Wi-Fi and breakfast. The Wi-Fi basically doesn’t exist, despite being described as free. Don’t pay for breakfast either: there was no protein, just cereal, bread and coffee, despite the promise of a continental breakfast. The lodge next door apparently has decent Wi-Fi and eggs at breakfast. The TV system is old and has no casting, so bring an HDMI cable. The floor creaks enough that you could wake the neighbours at night. The place itself is okay.

It’s a great location for a reasonable price, and the reception guy was kind enough to move his car so we could park when there were no spaces for us on the first night. We’ve stayed before, on the third floor, and didn’t have this problem then, so I think we were just unlucky this time. In our second-floor room, we heard quite a lot of noise from upstairs as well as traffic, and needed earplugs the second night. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We’d booked a suite expecting a nicer bathroom, but it still had the dated design and small corner shower.
