The multi-level room itself was fantastic, with lovely décor and views. But the welcome from a young woman working in the kitchen was marred by her very strong body odour. At checkout, it took two young women a full fifteen minutes to figure out how to take my payment, even with a man on the phone guiding them. For what I was paying, Mollies should have had someone supervise the trainee staff in person. That checkout delay was appalling and inconvenienced paying guests.

Ponsonby had plenty to see and do, with shops and restaurants, though after shopping it was a long walk back to the hotel. Downtown Auckland was also walkable for someone comfortable with a few miles, but we took a cab back. The location worked well. Bernadette and Steven, the owners, made the stay with their personal attention. Our plan included breakfast only, and it was fabulous, especially the poached egg and avocado. Our upstairs room had a loft and balconies off both the main floor and loft. The air conditioning was more than adequate for the NZ summer. There was plenty of off-street parking for our rental Toyota Highlander and the other guests' vehicles.
