Rayland Epsom Motel

The room itself was okay, the location is great, and the woman servicing the rooms is lovely. But don't take an upstairs room. The stairs and walkways are rotten, apparently because the air con has leaked all over them, and definitely aren't to code. Someone could have an awful accident falling through the stairs or walkway.

We paid in full before arrival, but were still asked for a bond when we got there. Then there was no power and no communication from the owners. The people staying there were checking on one another. For what we paid, I was very disappointed. The room was disgusting: bugs everywhere, mould on the windows and all around the shower, stains on the walls and ceiling, and dust all over. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly because its bottom was so swollen, apparently from flooding. There seemed to be insulation sitting on top of the wardrobe, and the bathroom windowsill was rotten. The microwave was nowhere near clean, the shower wouldn't stay warm, and the toilet brush was broken. The online photos looked nothing like the real place.

The rooms were very poor quality, even if the location was good. It's cheaper than nearby places, but I wouldn't stay again. I'd rather pay a little extra for one of the other options around here.

The TV didn't work, and it took about 20 minutes after I called reception to get it sorted. By then we'd decided to book another hotel. Staff were helpful and offered us a different room, but that one wasn't any better. On arrival, I thought it was odd they wanted a copy of my wife's driver's license when she'd booked online and all her details were there. In the room, little beetle 🪲 bugs, dead and alive, were crawling and wriggling on the floors by the beds, up the curtains, and on the walls. There was heaps of mould behind all the curtains, marks and stains on the sheets and blankets, wall marks, thick cobwebs on the ceiling, screws almost falling out of the power point, and dead bugs stuck to the bathroom ceiling. I've stayed in many hotels for work and family holidays, and this was the worst I've encountered. Wouldn't recommend.
