The room and bathroom at Starland Hotel were modern and very new, and the shower was one of the best I've ever had. The bed was comfortable, and the small kitchen had all the utensils we needed. Housekeeping staff and receptionists were polite, friendly, and welcoming. I also asked the hotel to arrange an airport pickup, and that service was excellent. I had a great stay in Auckland. The hotel has an excellent location near a large shopping mall with many good stores and a big supermarket. I'd highly recommend it and definitely stay again.

The walls are paper thin, there are no lamps, so you have to rely on your phone at night, and there's no bathroom heater, which would make winter cold. I didn't see a single staff member during my stay. A man in room 303 talked loudly in his language all night on both nights while I was in room 302. He wore a headset like a call centre worker. I was exhausted at 2 am and knocked to politely ask him to be quieter, but he didn't quiet down. When I asked again at 4 am, he argued with me. I got zero sleep for two nights. I regret staying here. It ruined my long-awaited North Island holiday. Pay more and stay somewhere better. Nasty place. I even wondered if the man was staff.

The place was nice, clean, and cozy, conveniently close to Sylvia Park shopping mall. We had to change plans and leave a day early. Staff were attentive and asked why we were leaving and whether we were unhappy with the service, which was actually great. This is on my list for another stay in Auckland.

The motorway, supermarket, and shopping mall are all nearby, so the location is very convenient. Staff were friendly, and the room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. It made the stay easy and stress-free. I'd consider coming back and would recommend it for a straightforward, no-frills stay.
