The Grand by SkyCity

We booked a standard room at The Grand by SkyCity Auckland for our wedding anniversary, then got a lovely surprise at check-in: an upgrade to a deluxe room on the top floor with a stunning view. We were so happy and grateful for the thoughtful gesture. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive, and everything felt smooth and comfortable from start to finish. It made the occasion memorable, and we couldn't have asked for a better anniversary stay. A solid five stars, highly recommend! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Being right in central Auckland made it easy to walk to restaurants, shops, Sky Tower and Viaduct Harbour. I also enjoyed the fitness centre and dining options, and breakfast had a wide range of fresh, high-quality choices. The Grand by SkyCity exceeded my expectations. Staff were welcoming, professional and helpful, and check-in was quick and easy. My room was spacious and modern, with quality finishes and comfortable furnishings. I slept really well in the comfortable bed. The city skyline views were stunning at sunset, and the large, clean bathroom felt luxurious, with premium toiletries and great water pressure. A fantastic stay. The location, service, comfort and luxury make it one of the best Auckland hotels I've stayed at, and I'd highly recommend it.

The location was great, and the front desk staff were lovely, but I wouldn't stay here again. The room was dated, dirty and falling apart, with broken curtains, stains all over the floor and blood smeared on the bathroom tissue box. For a special occasion, it was incredibly disappointing. It felt more like a three-star hotel than a five-star one, and I don't think it was worth the cost. We had a young baby with us and were there for one night, so moving rooms felt too difficult. Looking back, I should have told the staff how unhappy we were. I don't recommend it.

The city-center location meant we could leave the car behind, and ending the evening with cocktails at Skybar was lovely. I also had a fabulous treatment at East Day Spa, conveniently located on the ground floor by Reception. We spent two beautiful nights celebrating my 40th birthday and our 10-year anniversary. Our room, maybe a Kings Room, was beautiful, and everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and efficient. The staff were so accommodating. Breakfast had an amazing range and catered to all needs. I’ll definitely return and recommend Grand Hotel for a luxury stay.
