The room itself made it clear that guest comfort wasn’t a priority: there were rules posted everywhere, no towels or soap, no heating, broken appliance outlets and broken bedside lamps. The mattress was uncomfortable, with the springs easy to feel, and poor insulation let in loud street noise. The curtains didn’t block the light either. Even the shower had a six-minute limit, with a countdown display before it shuts off. There’s one bathroom for six rooms, and I couldn’t get in this morning, so I had to use a nearby park instead. The whole stay felt stressful and upsetting, and I didn’t feel welcome, just like a wallet helping pay the owner’s mortgage. Cute plush toys don’t change that. We chose this place outside the city because parking was listed, and we had a van with valuables that we didn’t want to leave far away. When we arrived, the parking was full. I called to report it, but the owner said at 10 p.m. it was too late to do anything. She didn’t suggest any streets where we could park, so we were left to figure it out ourselves and spent about 20 minutes finding a suitable spot. I also had to call earlier to get the check-in information. For the same price, I’d strongly recommend Oceanic hostel for its quality and service, or just stay somewhere else. I don’t understand the positive reviews. If you don’t want guests, do something else. This wasn’t worth the $69 we paid.
