Foveaux Hotel is a lovely art deco gem, with cosy home comforts, a little bar, and a great bed for everyone. There’s a fish and chip shop next door, which made for a perfect Bluff stay. Michael and Pam were incredibly friendly hosts, real stars at hospitality, and their professional charm made us feel looked after from start to finish. They know the area well and are keen to help guests make the most of their time in Bluff. It’s a great base for exploring the south.

A very special, affordable place to stay, and I’d highly recommend it. This small hotel is immaculately kept, with very welcoming, exceptionally friendly staff. Pam and Mike were so kind. As a cyclist, I appreciated the secure bike lock-up and the good advice about local restaurants. My double room was private, clean, tidy, and well kept, and the mattress was very comfortable.

We booked this hotel because we had a shark tour planned. When we arrived, the lovely couple who own it welcomed us. It’s historic but clean and inviting, and reminded me of my grandmother’s house. Our room was clean and had Wi-Fi and a TV. We spent the afternoon chatting over a drink in the bar after the tour was cancelled because of the weather. Another couple came in, and the man wanted to get his book signed. Apparently, the hotel is one of the older bars in NZ and appears in a book, so people come by for a drink and a signature. The owners also had suggestions for places to eat and things to do. It was a relaxing time connecting with strangers, and the hosts were wonderful.

Room 2 has a bit of a reputation, but all we found was a lovely view and a very peaceful night's sleep. The hotel itself is an absolute gem, full of history, with beautiful reception rooms and a little bar off the lounge. Everything was cosy, clean, and comfortable, with plenty of parking at the rear and an easy check-in and check-out. Mike and Pam, the proprietors, were warm, friendly, and generous, and we really appreciated it. Thank you, we hope to see you again someday.

Mike and Pam were so friendly and obliging. We chose a room with shared facilities, which was great value for our two single nights, one before and one after the ferry trip to and from Stewart Island. Breakfast was a great continental spread, and they’re very aware of and cater for coeliac and gluten-free diets. Thanks, guys.
