Te Koi was one of the highlights of our South Island visit. The property and our room were beautiful, and the grounds felt like a private arboretum, full of flowers, trees and shrubs. Ali and Ian were gracious and welcoming throughout. Louise helped Ali make sure we had everything we needed, and we never lacked for anything. One evening, Ali prepared dinner as we sat and chatted. It was intimate, delicious and so much fun. A very special place run by very special people. Stay at Te Koi for New Zealand hospitality, atmosphere and intimacy at the highest level.

The views from our suite's large windows and patio over the tidal sound and green hills were like a postcard. The suite was cozy and quaint, with modern comforts that other places often lack, and the location was stunning. We spent three nights at Te Koi Bronte Lodge, one of seven stops in Australia and New Zealand, and it was by far our most memorable. Even more than the accommodations, we remember the warm feeling, amazing food and wine, and the family welcome Ali and her remarkable staff gave us. In just three short days, we felt like part of the family. It was above five stars, and we hope to return.

Te Koi blends tradition with thoroughly modern hospitality, and it's a beautiful, truly unique property. Ali and Ian are thoughtful, considerate and friendly. They're attentive and always available, making you feel like a special guest, almost family. The place feels refined, with attention to detail throughout. The tasteful interior has a sense of harmony, and the garden is incredibly well kept. Rooms are spacious, each with its own terrace, heritage details, contemporary touches and boutique beds. Ali is a talented chef. As French people, we're particularly sensitive to meal quality, and she served us the best food of our entire stay in New Zealand and Australia. Ian's food and wine pairings were simply exceptional. If perfection isn't of this world, Te Koi comes close.

The Lodge is tucked into Ali's well-tended gardens and orchard, with much of the produce grown there or sourced locally. Its location is handy for Abel Tasman, but the real reason to go is the amazing hospitality from Ian and Ali. Her food is Michelin star quality, and he pairs local wines with each course. They also gave us wonderful suggestions for wine touring and gallery hopping.

The food and wine have been incredible, and Ian and Ali are so welcoming. Their three beautifully furnished bungalows and lovely main building sit in a wonderful garden on a small cape. It feels like a little paradise, and it’s been our favorite stop in New Zealand so far.
