Ribbonwood Country House

Over five weeks in New Zealand, this was the best dinner we had. Gary is an unbelievable chef, so I strongly recommend reserving a table. We travel abroad quite often, and Gary’s and Robert’s property and hospitality rank among the best we've experienced. The gardens are beautiful, so ask them for a tour, and enjoy the countryside view.

The hosts made us feel cared for from start to finish. Gary and Robert showed us around and made delicious breakfasts that set us up for our adventures. As dog lovers, we were thrilled to walk the two collies down to the pond on the estate. The room was beautifully appointed, with luxurious bedding and thoughtful touches that felt like home. The setting is breathtaking, with rolling hills, stunning gardens and a peaceful atmosphere, and we could take it all in from the garden hot tub. Ribbonwood Country House was a highlight of our New Zealand trip and one of our best stays ever. We can't wait to return.

We were sorry to have just one night at the Country House. The spacious, beautifully decorated rooms and colourful gardens made it a delightful place to recover after our long flight from Singapore. Gary and Robert gave us such a warm welcome to their comfortable, relaxing home. We had a delicious breakfast the next morning, and it was a perfect start to our holiday in New Zealand, with stunning views all around.

We arrived late, but Robert was still waiting patiently to welcome us. He enthusiastically showed us the facilities, and we felt at home straight away. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom was impressively large and clean. Breakfast was exquisite, with so much care put into the details. The high quality linen dining napkins were especially beautiful. We had a very pleasant stay and are truly grateful to Robert for his thoughtful hospitality.
