166 Majestic Court Motel

The overnight noise was awful. Guests in the room below started fighting around 2am, with screaming, banging, swearing inside and outside, and calls for help continuing until 7am. The room itself was run down and unclean, with dirty dishes in the cupboard and a broken door blind. I had to hang a towel over it for privacy. I wouldn’t stay at Majestic Court again, even for free.

You can walk to Riccarton / Westfield Mall and Mc Donald's, and the motel’s on Riccarton Road, handy for central Christchurch, the number 1 highway and the airport. The rooms and beds were comfortable, clean and well serviced, and it was good value for the price. A few staff didn’t seem to have English as their first language, but we communicated okay. I’d recommend it for a comfortable, well located stay at a good price.

We left and applied for a refund through booking.com, but when they contacted the manager, he refused to cooperate. Before that, I’d found it impossible to locate staff to fix the problems. The manager told me nobody was there to help and said to leave and apply for a refund, then shouted over me and spoke down to me. Both TVs didn’t work. The unit was dark, dirty and poorly lit, with food splatters and black scuffs in the kitchen and bathroom, filthy cupboards and utensils, dirty light shades, and a stained, grimy couch. By then, it felt like blatant theft. Save yourself the hassle and book somewhere else.

The room was immaculate, and the cleaner was really friendly. The woman at the desk was kind too and let us check in early. We had plenty of coffee, tea and milk, and the mall was an easy walk away with lots of parking. The showers were super hot and powerful. Thanks 🙏
