The room and property were tidy and comfortable, and the place was handy for getting around Christchurch. For a two-night weekend stay, it seemed good value based on what we first paid, and the room had what we needed for a short visit. At check-in, though, we were asked for another $50 for our 3-year-old. That charge hadn’t been clearly explained when we booked, so being presented with it at the counter felt unfair. When I questioned it, Terry told us we could cancel if we didn’t agree, which left us in a tough spot after arriving and planning to stay. The explanation was that they charge per person regardless of age, like an airline. That policy should be made clear in advance. We had no problem with the room itself, but the pricing communication and the way the check-in conversation went were disappointing. Future travellers with young children should confirm the policy beforehand to avoid a surprise fee.

The room was clean and the setting comfortable, and the staff were so warm and welcoming. This was our best stay in Christchurch so far. We can’t wait to come back.

We found it great for a cycling visit. Separated cycleways nearby lead into the city centre, and McLean's Forest and Bottle Lake Forest are both within reach for casual mountain biking. The proprietors let us store our bikes in the garage overnight for extra security. Our room was clean, comfortable and well equipped.

Bon was wonderful, and the place was warm and clean. It was just right for what we needed. We loved staying here and would definitely return.

Before we arrived, the email communication was clear and easy to follow, including confirmation of the bedding needed for my disabled wife. They catered for her needs without any fuss. We stayed two nights, and the place was warm, comfortable, clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and kept checking whether everything was all right or if they could help. It was well worth the money, and I’d use your service again without hesitation.
