Colombo in the City

The main problem with Room 802 is the lack of privacy. The only window faces a narrow passage, so people walking by get a clear view of the double bed. The motel next door also looks straight into the bedroom. Outside, there’s a shared area with little tables just 1.5 m from the bedroom, where guests gather and can watch for free. It’s really unsuitable for honeymooners or first time lovers. Inside, everything was spotless and tidy, including the bathroom and seating area. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially the person at reception. The layout is badly designed, though.

The host was outgoing and very helpful, offering suggestions for places to visit and eat. She noticed our bikes and offered to store them safely before we even asked. Colombo in the City is also in a superb spot, an easy walk from the city and river. Thanks, we’ll look to stay again on our next trip down from Auckland.

There’s plenty of parking on site, and the bed, a super king, was really comfortable. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable too, though it felt a little dated and tired. Great location, and check-in was a breeze.

The two-room suite gave us lots of space, and we thought it was good value. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and there were a few good restaurants nearby. Construction next door was quite loud, but it wasn’t an issue if you’re an early riser and head out. We were happy with our stay.
