Jailhouse Accommodation - Hostel

The shared spaces are clean and tidy, with plenty of room to hang out. Staff were friendly, and the memorabilia is cool. The rooms are small and the facilities basic, since they used to be jail cells, but it’s a great place to stay about a 15 minute walk from Wolfbrook Arena. I’d happily return. If you’re sensitive to night noise, bring earplugs.

The two cats at the entrance were a lovely surprise, and we really liked the fun cat-themed touches around the hostel. The common areas were spacious, practical, comfortable, and never too busy. The staff were kind, friendly, and helpful, and it’s honestly one of the cleanest hostels I’ve stayed in. We had a great stay at Jailhouse Accommodation in Christchurch. Everything went smoothly, and I’d highly recommend it.

The rooms used to be cells, so there isn’t much space, but it adds to the experience. The beds were comfortable, and the hostel had good facilities. It was very clean and full of character. The app based key locks worked very well. Fantastic hostel! The No 7 bus stop is about 300m away, and it’s a short ride to the city centre.

The walk to the city is quite long, but I’d recommend this place if that doesn’t bother you. The kitchen and common areas are nice, and the rooms are clean. Most of the staff also stayed at the hostel, and we got the sense they’d become a close friend group that was a little hard to talk to. Apart from that, it was a nice hostel at a good price.
