Orari Bed and Breakfast

We stayed two nights in October, with high wind warnings and a bit of rain during our visit. Maddy's many recommendations helped make it a great time in Christchurch. The botanic garden, just two blocks away, was gorgeous, and Courtyard Theatre was only a few blocks away, where we caught a play. We also had several delicious meals. Each afternoon, sharing a glass of wine with other travelers was a nice chance to talk over plans. Breakfast was made with fresh local products.

We loved the garden and the cozy, beautiful living room. Breakfast was good, with hard-boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, coffee or tea, and toast. Both staff members were friendly and knew their stuff. One of the best B&Bs we've stayed in, and it was easy to get to.

Orari has plenty of character, a handy location, and very friendly, helpful staff. We had a comfortable night and a great stay, apart from the noise from a group of rowdy young people in the apartments at the back. They kept it up later than they should have, which cost the stay a star.

The staff made us feel very welcome, and the homemade food was delicious. The rooms are clean and tidy, with a warm, restful country style. Sitting outside with lunch and a cup of tea felt like being out in the countryside, even though the setting is right in central Christchurch, close to everything. Highly recommended.
