We’d happily stay here again if we come back to Auckland. It’s an easy walk to the waterfront, with plenty of good restaurants nearby. Our bed was comfortable, and we really liked the shampoo and body wash. Staff were friendly and helpful. One question we had: there were no security locks on the door, and we wondered if that’s standard in NZ. Parking was a bit of a walk away.

The restaurant was a highlight for us. We ate both breakfast and dinner there, and the food was delicious. Hotel DeBrett also has a very artistic feel throughout, and every staff member we met was kind and responsive. It’s well placed for getting around Auckland on foot, with restaurants, parks, bookstores, art galleries and the marina and ferry landing all a short walk away.

I only stayed overnight at Hotel Debrett, but it left a great impression. They kindly upgraded me to a lovely lofted suite, and I especially enjoyed the bathtub and comfortable bed with its lavender-scented pillow. The front desk service was wonderful, and the location was perfect. I’d absolutely stay again on my next trip to Auckland.

A quirky, lovely hotel in a historic building, right in the CBD. Shops and cafes are just outside, and the waterfront is an easy jaunt away. There’s also a lovely corner bar next door. We stayed in a two-storey suite, with a spiral staircase inside.

The location is good, but the rooms are small and breakfast was very poor. They allow just one cup of drink with breakfast, then charge 5NZD for another coffee. Even using the wardrobe drawer was awkward: we had to open the bedroom door first so the wardrobe door could swing fully open and the drawer could slide out.
