The gardens and outdoor pool were lovely, and the rooms were roomy with comfortable beds. Meals are available in the dining room or bar, and the breakfast, lunch, and evening meal were delicious. It's a first-class hotel in a great spot, beside Hagley Park and close to Riccarton Road, with plenty of eateries, bus stops, and Westfield Shopping Centre. I'd recommend a visit.

The continental breakfast was delicious and absolutely worth it, and my room was a good size with a comfortable bed. From check-in through to the day I left, I had a very good stay, despite being surprised by the low rating. The girls at the front desk were friendly and helpful. Cheers to Lily at the bar for a great conversation and such a good service attitude.

The grounds were impeccable, and I loved every inch of this beautiful hotel. My room was great too. The shower was small but had the best water pressure, and Angel at the front desk was great.

I was there for work last night, and it turned into a wonderful stay. The food at breakfast was amazing, even the veges, and the buffet was the best ever. The coffee was amazing too, and I enjoyed it outside in the garden among the roses. The glorious bath was lovely, as I love having a bath. Service was great from arrival to goodbye, and the room and room service were lovely. I also took a 5am walk around Hagley Park at sunrise, which was amazing. It brought back memories of 1982, when the hotel was known as the Chateau Regency. I had my first job there, in the five-star restaurant, where I was a waiter and learnt how to delicately pour and twist red wine. I'll be back, thank you. Mikey

The trip here after an amazing day on the Pacific Coast train from Picton has been a complete disaster so far. I booked a nice balcony room with a garden view but was given a view of the car park entrance. I was so miserable and angry I wanted to cry. You ruined New Year's Eve for me, the worst day to finish 2025. I had to downgrade my room to get any kind of garden view. J.hun, the DM, was a very nice, kind lady, and this isn't her fault, so don't blame her. The morning manager is at fault for having no regard for morality, or perhaps it's the GM, who forces the team to misrepresent rooms just to make money and sell something nothing like the advertised pictures. I'm here for two days, so we'll see, but so far it's a mess. I'm meant to change rooms tomorrow to the one I actually booked, and I still don't understand why I have to compromise today and suffer. Shame on you. I don't recommend this for someone wanting to relax. Maybe it's a business hotel, but it has nothing to do with leisure. Instead of sipping nice wine on the balcony with the view I paid for, I'm just having a shitty day.
