The Racecourse Hotel & Motorlodge

We ended up extending our stay at The Racecourse Hotel from six nights to twelve, and we'd happily come back next time we're in the area. Our room was basic, but comfortable and had everything we needed, including a TV, microwave, toaster and dishes. It was clean, and the towels were changed each day. The location worked well for visiting family and friends, and shops, supermarkets and places of interest were close by. There's a great restaurant across from our room, and we enjoyed a few drinks at the bar, where we won a couple of meat raffles. The staff were friendly and helpful. GREAT PLACE, highly recommend.

Getting any sleep was hard. Guests smoked just outside the room doors, and I saw several people standing there talking loudly until 11 pm. The cigarette smell came into the room, which already had an awful odor, like sweaty feet, wet dog and even urine. There was no proper ventilation, and the rooms had neither air conditioning nor fans. Housekeeping wasn't done daily. They just left a plastic bag of towels hanging on the door. Breakfast was disappointing too: the coffee tasted like nothing, and the supposed orange juice was orange soda. Even basic shampoo wasn't supplied in the bathroom. An absolute disaster. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

A quiet, relaxing place to spend time. The staff were friendly, and having a kids' room was the best part for us. Our kids stayed happily busy there while we got some quality time together.

The location's good, and it was comfortable enough for a few nights, but the place is very basic and a little run down, so you get what you pay for. The pillows were terrible. Also, don't use the hair dryer. It hasn't had its electrical safety test and tag done in five years, and it gave me little shocks.
