Tui Lodge Motel

Our travel website failed to tell us our booking had been cancelled, but the owners at Tui sorted things out. They found our family a nearby hotel that worked for us and paid the extra cost. We really appreciated how helpful they were.

I only realized the next morning that I’d left behind my expensive pillow, which I need for neck problems while I’m awaiting surgery. I emailed, and the staff had already put it aside and were about to contact me. They packed and addressed it really carefully so I could arrange a courier. It took me months to get back in touch, and I thought it would be long gone, but it was still there waiting. I finally got it home. They went well out of their way to help, thank you! We can’t wait to see you next month. We arrived late with a big 4WD, trailer, and our dog, and they were very accommodating and helpful. Great value, and the beds were the best we’ve had in a motel. The decor is dated, but we liked the old-time feel. We left the following morning.

The room was generally dirty and incredibly dusty, with lots of mold in the toilet and bathroom. The carpet was dirty and covered in burn marks, and the closet door was broken off. There were no smoke alarms, and the decor looked very dated, like the late 70s or 80s. It’s not a good place for asthmatics. There was little to no parking, the signage was terrible, and it was hard to find. The door had to be shut with force or it wouldn’t close properly. Although advertised as pet friendly, it wasn’t really suitable for dogs. We were told there’d be two beds and a pull-out couch for three people, but only two beds were provided, with no third sleeping option. It also took 15 minutes to get served when I tried to hand in my key. I wouldn’t stay again.

We’ve stayed here a few times over the years, and this visit felt like a real improvement. It was much cleaner and more comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We hadn’t booked ahead, and it was busy, but they still got us into a room without any hassle. We really appreciated that after a long drive. Would stay again and recommend it.
