Auckland Country Cottages

The outlook was a highlight, and there was even an outdoor picnic table. Carolyn was so accommodating to my parents. Their cottage was roomy, spotless, and had everything they needed, with plenty of privacy in a perfect location. It’s a lovely retreat from everyday busyness, especially for a couple. Thank you, Carolyn.

With my busy work schedule, it’s nice to have somewhere I can unwind. I’ve stayed here several times and always feel relaxed. The host is helpful, too.

We spent a quiet evening watching Tuis hop between branches from the deck chairs, with the afternoon sun and the views. We had a glass of wine or three, and from the spa pool we spotted 5 satellites and 1 shooting star. We just loved our stay, and the host was great.

The countryside view from the deck was stunning, and I was amazed to see both oceans, the Manukau Harbour and Hauraki Gulf. It’s perfectly placed for sunsets. I also had the hot tub to myself each day, with total privacy, and the whole week was blissfully quiet. Of the 3 places I stayed just south of Auckland, about 40 minutes away, over 3 weeks, this was easily the most comfortable and private. In winter the heat pump made a huge difference. I’m careful to choose places listing “heat” in the amenities, but the other two places I stayed had advertised that falsely. Here, I didn’t freeze at night, and I don’t like leaving a space heater on while I sleep. The owner has that kiwi hospitality where nothing is too much trouble. She invited me to her home for steak dinner, one of the best meals I’ve ever tasted, and helped me find accommodation in Auckland when I had to move closer to the city.
