Cromwell Backpackers

The host is very friendly, though at times a bit chaotic. Sometimes he starts drinking early in the afternoon, and then isn’t sober in the evening. The communal room isn’t huge, but it has nice couches, guitars, a keyboard, a TV, and loads of DVDs. The bedrooms are a decent size with clean beds, and the kitchen is big and has plenty of cooking utensils.

This is a great little backpackers, with a nice clean kitchen and a handy walk into town. The host showed me around and made my stay as smooth as possible. I stayed a few months ago and will be back 👍

A friendly, welcoming owner who made sure guests were comfortable, plus clean facilities and a great atmosphere. I really recommend staying here while travelling through Central Otago. It’s a nice chance to meet other travellers who are on the same wavelength and can share advice and support along the way. There are instruments and games in the lounge, and you can rent a bike or kayak to enjoy while you’re here.

The women's dorm and bathrooms were basic, but clean. The kitchen was the part I didn't like. It seemed some backpackers stay for longer periods, and the kitchen was untidy and unclean. The fridge was dirty too, which I found really disgusting. It looks like the kitchen might get a quick clean, but not a proper one.
