The rooms were really nice, clean, and tidy, with everything you need. The staff were friendly as. Great place to stay.

The homely feel made this my favourite place to stay while travelling around NZ for work. I was here for two weeks and was extremely happy with it. The staff were great, it was good value, and the location and atmosphere were both lovely. Thanks for having me. I’ll try to book here again next time I’m in Dunedin.

The managers and cleaning staff were friendly, and the motel was comfortable and clean. I stayed Monday to Friday for four nights, with the beach and South Dunedin close by. One thing to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper: traffic from Victoria Rd can be heard at night, and southerly wind and rain can be horrendous. That’s typical Dunedin weather, though, and I’d stay again.

The beach is only about five minutes away, and we spent around two hours walking a loop from there to a viewpoint, through the cemetery and back along the road. It was a good 10,000 steps, with lovely views of the beach and ocean. We also found the laundry useful, especially with the drying area beside it. Our first floor room was spacious and very clean, with a large bedroom and TV, lounge chairs, a dining space beside the kitchenette, and an en-suite wet room. The double bed had crisp, clean sheets. Staff at reception were friendly when we arrived and again at checkout. Parking was just enough for the guests. We got back from an evening out around 10 pm and took the last space. There wasn’t really anywhere to eat within walking distance, so we drove to Esplanade, a really nice Italian restaurant that was worth the short trip. A small thing for the motel to consider: some guests left at 6:30 and made a lot of noise. I know that isn’t the staff’s fault, but it would be good to remind early leavers that others may still be on holiday and asleep. Suitcases banging on the stairs and people shouting across the car park can wake them.
