I didn’t choose this B&B while doing the Great Taste Trail, but it turned out much better than I expected. The gardens and scenic setting made sitting at the outdoor table really restful, and the rooms were lovely and clean. Breakfast was fabulous. I tried Barbara and Eric’s homemade jams and honey with the artisanal bread, and there were free-range eggs too. I’m fussy about morning coffee, so having two good options, Rabbit island coffee and Little Sheep coffee, served in small French presses was a real treat. I also really enjoyed chatting with Barbara and would happily recommend this place to travelers in the area.

Fresh fruit picked from the trees on the property was a lovely touch, and breakfast was generous, fresh, and clearly made with care. We woke to beautiful mountain views and the mysterious calls of pukeko from the neighbouring paddock, which felt like stepping into another time 🦕 The lodge is central but still peaceful, with nature all around and everything close by. The hospitality was warm and genuine throughout our stay. A special place we’d happily come back to.

The thin walls were the one drawback, so bring earplugs in case other guests are noisy. Even so, this was probably my favourite place I’ve stayed in New Zealand, great value and I’ll definitely be back. It’s handy for Motueka and Abel Tasman, and right on the Great Taste bike trail. The hosts were lovely, breakfast and garden goodies were delicious and fresh, and the kitchen was really well equipped. The grounds are beautiful too.

The garden produce was lovely, and I enjoyed the free gaming machines. Everything was easy, and the place was clean and organic. A perfect stay, highly recommended.
