Hotel St Clair

There’s no food at the hotel, but we found three or four very nice restaurants on the same block. The staff were really friendly, and the little hotel sits right by the ocean. I’d happily recommend it.

Eternal at the front desk was so helpful, and the staff were friendly and professional. The views were fabulous, with the beach walk and great restaurants nearby. A lovely location.

I was touring the island by motorbike when bad weather made me stay an extra night. This turned out to be a great quiet spot to rest by the ocean. My room looked out to sea and had a bath with hot tub functions, plus heated tile flooring. There’s not a lot going on nearby beyond a pizza restaurant and burger bar, and the local grocery store shuts before 7pm. I appreciated the complimentary parking in the underground garage, too.

We spent our last night in Dunedin here and paid $200 US for the room, which felt well worth it for a relaxing finish to the trip. We had a beautiful ocean view and enjoyed a nice dinner out. The beach is right nearby, and there are lots of restaurants. The room was clean, warm and inviting, with a gorgeous sectional couch. Underground parking was convenient. There’s also a heated saltwater pole, which we didn’t try, but people told us it was amazing, and they provide free vouchers for it. The room had a toaster, hot water maker, tea, coffee and a refrigerator, plus real creamer milk. They literally give you a bottle of milk. As you can see in the videos and pictures, the hospitality of New Zealand people is amazing. We’d definitely recommend staying here.
