We came back after staying here before and found the rooms refreshed and updated. There are new drapes and sheers, comfortable seating, and a few other thoughtful touches. It's a great spot to break up the longer drives across the South Island. We'll be back!

Aorangi Motel was a great place to stop before our visit to Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook the next day. It's a small-town motel with very good value. Our room was comfortable, exceptionally clean, and well maintained, just right for a rest before getting back on the road. Simple, cosy, and convenient. We'd happily come back.

The owner and staff were so friendly, and they left nice welcoming touches, including chocolate bars and flowers. The units have an older style, but they're clean and well presented, and the price is excellent. I'd definitely stay here again.

A really convenient place to stop halfway between Christchurch and Queenstown. The owner has given each unit a personal touch, which made it feel much less austere than a typical motel. Everything was beautifully presented, super clean, and very comfortable. We'd absolutely stay here again.

Fairlie turned out to be a lovely small town, with cafes and little shops that weren't overrun by tourists. I wasn't sure about the location when we first booked Aorangi Motel, but after staying there, I'd highly recommend it. We chose it because hotels in Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook were expensive and already limited months before our holiday. Here, the rooms were clean, well cared for, and excellent value, and check-in was effortless. The family who run it gave fantastic service too: I left my phone charger in the room, and Erin mailed it to me in Australia without charging me. I'd stay here instead of the much more touristy Lake Tekapo.
