The room price felt too high for the condition of the place. The lawns looked like they hadn’t been mowed for a month or more, and paint was peeling off the walls. In the open-plan living area, the main bed seemed old and worn, and without curtains on the kitchen windows the early light came straight in. Staff communicated well, though we never saw anyone in person, which seems to be becoming the norm.

Booked at the last minute for a fair price. The bed and shower were comfortable, though it didn’t smell very good.

Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a modest place, and the mattress wasn’t the most comfortable I’ve slept on, but I have no real complaints. The price was reasonable, and the wine trail is a short drive away. I don’t know if I’ll be in the area again, but I’d be happy to stay here if I am.

I spent one night in my van, so this is just about the camping site. The wifi was great and the shower had unlimited hot water, which earned it two stars from me. For one person in a non-powered site, I paid 30 dollars. The place was dirty, and there was no soap by the toilet. The kitchen is very small, really only good for one group, and it was cold inside with no insulation. They didn’t have gas for the kitchen at the time, so there was no hot water at the sink. They also hadn’t mentioned on the phone that the cooker used gas, so I cooked with my own gas cooker. The fridge is small too. They can fit two to four vans or campervans on site. It’s a small campground near a road. After two months at private campgrounds around the North Island costing 20 to 30 dollars, this was the first time I’d rather have stayed at a freedom camp. I regret paying 30 dollars for the facilities. It wasn’t worth it.
