The meals were a real highlight, some of the best we ate around here, and the team made everything feel warm and genuine without any fuss. The eco-minded touches fit naturally into the stay and made it feel restful and considered. Our chalet was thoughtfully put together, cozy, and peaceful, and we relaxed as soon as we stepped inside. Headwaters Eco Lodge was such a lovely place to stay near Glenorchy.

Kirsty and Chef Dj, thank you for putting in so much work and helping make the day we dreamed of happen. We held our small wedding at the Headwaters, and it was more than perfect. The lodge had beautiful scenery and so many different spaces where guests could enjoy different moods. Everyone on staff was welcoming, skilled, and worked incredibly hard. The food was delicious, and the whole experience was breathtaking. We’ll definitely be back soon.

The setting is lovely, with plenty of hiking nearby. We did day walks on the Routeburn track and Greenstone Road and would happily recommend them. The drive through the scenery is gorgeous, and Queenstown and the airport are easy to reach for scenic flights. After a walk, the nearby general store is handy for coffees, ice cream, and packed lunches. We really liked the Eco Lodge itself. The rooms are great and furnished with reused items, and the composting toilets work amazingly well. Their effort to care for the environment through lower water use and solar panels that reduce electricity demand deserves credit. Service was fantastic too, and breakfast had a great range of wholesome choices.

Staying at Headwaters Glenorchy Eco Lodge ended up being one of the best parts of our whole trip. It was our first time in New Zealand, and I wasn’t sure whether to spend a few days in Glenorchy, but we’re so glad we did. The accommodation, service, and dining were all wonderful. We can’t wait to come back.

There were nine of us for the Sunday buffet brunch, and unexpected delays made us late. The staff stayed polite, warm, and accommodating, and we felt welcomed into their lovely home. The food, setting, and service were all 10/10. A special thanks to Cory for looking after us so well. The brunch was fantastic.
