Golden Bay Holiday Park

The beachside location is incredible, and there’s plenty for kids, including go karts and a fairy trail. We also thoroughly enjoyed the annual quiz night. The outdoor kitchen area was good enough, though when it was busy there wasn’t enough fridge space for our food. One more fridge would help. The showers were the letdown. We’d already paid a premium $70 per night just to pitch our tent, so an extra $1 for 5 minutes was surprising. We had to get cash at reception and change it into coins, then most of our showers ran cold and only trickled out. Other campers were complaining about this in the bathroom too. There were just 3 showers in one area, so we often had to wait. At other campsites on our holiday, showers were included in the price. Still, we loved the campsite and the experience as a whole :D

We had a really great couple of days at one of the most picturesque places we’ve stayed. There are all sorts of accommodation and great sites for motorhomes or tents. It felt relaxing and safe on the beach, even for a non-swimmer like me 🤣

We had our motorhome right by the beach in October, when it was out of season, but all the facilities were as they should be. It’s a typical Golden Bay beach, suited to families. There’s also a nice little cafe about a 5 minute walk up the road.

Be careful with this accommodation site. It’s a con! When we were looking for a place in Western Australia to sleep overnight after a party, their listing appeared among Western Australian accommodation deals, but enquiries didn’t show an address. The pictures looked like Golden Bay in Western Australia, so without an address we thought it was in Australia, not New Zealand. We got caught by the no-refund booking. They didn’t care that we had no way to get to the accommodation, even though we couldn’t be in two places at once. They took our hard-earned money for nothing. I’d give this a negative star rating if that were an option. How can I give a positive rating after being ripped off? Steer clear of them, they have no morals.
